Sign: Gemini
Element: Air
Numerology: VI
Numerologically speaking the number 6 is represented by the qualities of domesticity, compassion, and equality. From a spiritual perspective, the number 6 invites us to connect with being of service to others, divine relationship, awareness of divine creation, and letting go of what we are attached to in order to find ‘true’ meaning.
Message from Dilara:
The Lovers card invites us to unify within our awareness, combining elements of what is opposite with what is present, this card is a draw to the divine connection which comes from diligent self-awareness practices. What is true can come from the space between our masculine and feminine, shadow and love, conscious and subconscious.
The presence of the two figures, along with the dominating presence of the divine figure above (or next to) them brings in the quality of trinity consciousness. Mind, body, soul. Intellect, emotion, expanded awareness. Past, present, future. Mother, Father, Holy spirit.
Trinity consciousness reminds us of the presence of our three main primordial soul centres in the sound of creation ‘Aum’. These three centres are the Hara, Anahata, and Vishuddha (Lower Abdomen, Heart, and Throat). Each one of three sounds within the sound AUM has a placement in the body. ‘Ahh’ in the lower abdomen, ‘Ohhh’ in the heart, and ‘Mmmm’ in the throat. The significance of the trinity energy is magnified by the number six, i.e. because we have the number 3 twice in the number 6 we are even more embedded with the energy of the creation process with this card.
From a more literal perspective, The Lovers card can represent interconnectedness and relationship with a significant other, relationship across all levels, with the self, with other, with the divine, with work, with animals, with technology. This card asks us to evaluate our sense of connection with each individual aspect of our environment. From this place of evaluation we can come into deeper connection with the divine.
The fact that the two human figures are naked in this card also invites us to address how we feel about our inner vulnerabilities. Where in life can we BE more vulnerable? With who are we ourselves and with who are we still on the path of releasing masks? Which parts of ourselves are we most comfortable with and which parts do we want to cover up or keep hidden? The nakedness in this card represents freedom beyond perceived restriction in the outer world.
When we choose to look within, we see we are all naked, all restricted by our own minds and choices. The divine then comes in to usher us forward into a deeper state of awareness through recognising where our flesh (mind, body, or spirit) is part of our authentic, liberated expression. As this card is ruled by Gemini, communication and expression are also woven into the fabric of its make up.
Reversed:
Reversed the Lovers card brings in the energy of separation. Separation consciousness, divorce, seeing things from a separate viewpoint rather than unifying all aspects of life into your being. Reversed there is also the possibility to see life from the angle of – what is this separation teaching me? What is this separation causing within me? So that we ultimately come into alignment with the highest learnings possible, it is important to utilise our reality to benefit ourselves and those around us. This card reversed can also represent divorce, unrequited love, temptation, indecision, lack of consciousness, and a separation from the divine.
Message from the Herd:
This card is dynamic. This card is dynamic because it highlights a point on the path in which you are reminded of two key aspects of being human: communication and love. Love is the pathway of joy, communication is the pathway of connection. Communication bridges connection and separation together. Joy lives in the seeds of creativity. Through your creative energy and endeavours, joy comes to pass. Even for a moment, joy is there. Creative energy brings you alive.
The Lovers card is a card of power. When two or more beings come together there is always a third perspective which is the shared perspective. Through life’s unfolding this shared perspective is the ‘greater’ or ‘wider’ perspective of creation. All creative forces came into being because there where once ‘two’ which desired to know one another’s relatedness through a third perspective. As all life on this planet is also created from the primal sexual centre of body, we are bringing in the feeling of power here through a sexual lens.
Sexuality is a word used by human beings to incorporate a value system of life’s sustainability. Sexuality marries the need to survive with the innate movement towards seeing potential come to fruition. Sexual energy requires a vessel, this planet is the vessel for creative life energy as you know it. In The Lovers card the ‘vessel’ is being gifted its life through recognition of itself through the divine and the other. The divine then comes to see itself as the vessel of creation through the presence of the two forces which have come to know themselves through its presence. As you see, it moves in roundabouts. Life is a circle..
Some questions to consider: Where in your life are you being asked to look at your own sexual, creative, and mirroring forces? Who is mirroring what to you, allowing you to know your own sexuality and creative energy from a deeper perspective?
When you are pleased by what is happening around you, you name this experience – happiness. Acceptance comes as the root of the experience of happiness. To arrive at acceptance there needs to be a journey of opposing forces which are illuminating what you need to see in order to accept, or bring into yourself, what is needed for the connection you ultimately desire.
Reversed:
Reversed, this card allows for the spaciousness of recognition. We are referencing recognition a lot because it is at this juncture of your journey that true, compatible, daily gratitude comes to be. The spaciousness here is created through turning away from who you are. The Lovers reversed is represented by the choice to ignore your primal urges, ignore your intuition and the sense and essence of who you are. As always, the card reversed is an opportunity to come back into wholeness with your heart, body, and mind.
